DICKINSON, WILLIS ROY - The death of Mr. Willis Roy Dickison, husband of Grace Mauline (MacAllister) Dickison, of Miramichi, NB, occurred on Sunday, December 7, 2008 at the Miramichi Regional Hospital after a brief illness at the age 78. Born in Newcastle, NB, he was the son of the late Roy and Ella (Cornish) Dickison. Willis was a member of St. James and St. John United Church, Newcastle, worked as an accountant for the Bank of Nova Scotia for 10 years before becoming Clerk-Treasurer for the former Town of Newcastle, where he retired after 33 years of service. Willis has been involved in various group and organizations where he was a Cub Leader, past chairman and member of the Board of Directors of the Miramichi Hospital, past chairman and member of Legal Aid Appeal Board of Northumberland County, charter member, past president and life member of the Newcastle Kinsmen Club, member of the K-40 Club. Present treasurer and member of the Board of Directors of the Miramichi Golf & Country Club, former treasurer of Newcastle Community Services (the Beaverbrook Foundation) and Newcastle Recreation Council, past president and member of the Newcastle Curling Club, former Municipal Emergency Measures Co-ordinator, Commissioner of Oaths and Member of the Highland Society of New Brunswick at Miramichi. He has been recognized by the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators, the Associations of New Brunswick Towns, Association of Municipal Administrators of New Brunswick. In 1992 Willis received the Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow award. Besides his wife: Grace, Willis is survived by: two daughters: Sandra Harding (John); Pamela Thomson (Robert); two sons: Roy (Ellen) and (Willis) Dodie (Ann) all of Miramichi, NB; nine grandchildren: Jason, Jennifer, Andrea, Megan, Kendra, Kelsey, Dane, Jonathan and Victoria; one great grandchild: Lauren and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents: Willis is predeceased by: one sister: Shirley Morrison and infant brother: Moran. The family will receive visitors at Bell's Funeral Home today from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from the Sterling Bell Memorial Chapel on Wednesday at 11:00 December 10, 2008 at with Rev. John Fraser officiating. Burial will take place in the Miramichi Cemetery later in the spring. In Willis' memory, donations may be made to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a memorial of one's choice.
