PENN, CAROL ELAINE - The death of Carol Penn of Rothesay, NB, wife of James Penn, occurred Tuesday, December 9th, 2008, at the Kings Way Care Centre, Quispamsis, NB. Born in Hartland, NB, she was the daughter of the late Leigh and Catherine (Taylor) Thornton. Carol lived in Montreal, QC and was a loyal employee of Bell Canada from 1952 - 1967. She was also employed with Crane McAvity, located in Saint John, NB from 1981 - 1984. Carol was affectionately known as "Mama Penn" by many Kennebecasis Valley High School students in the mid 1980s. Besides her husband, James, Carol is survived by one son, Brian Penn (Maureen), Saint John, NB; one sister, Sally Meehan, Greenfield Park, QC; several nieces and nephews and many cousins. The Penn family would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff of 3CS for the loving care Carol received during her two year stay at the Saint John Regional Hospital and the staff of Kingsway Care Center for their care during her final days. At the family's request there will be no visitation or memorial service. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
