Roland Morton Jost

Passed peacefully on Monday, July 28, 2008 in St. John's, Roland Morton Jost in his 82nd year. Predeceased by his wife Joyce (Cuff) in 2002. He is survived by children: Jim (Kathy) in Antiqua, Ellie (Kathy) in Ottawa, Mary and Christopher in Montreal; grandchildren: Jeff, Trish, Chad, Shelby, Cory, Candace and Cameron; brother Norman (Beth); sisters: Joanna Downey and Reloy (Bob) McCann in New Brunswick and sister Eleanor (Charles) Daly in Ontario. As a Civil Engineer (Mount Allison University/Nova Scotia Tech.) Rollie spent his entire professional career with Shawinigan Engineering/Shawmont and specializing in hydroelectric projects. Born in Yarmouth, N.S., after schooling he ventured to Montreal and began his career and family. In 1967 a move to St. John's was made for the Bay d'Espoire project. Although temporary moves were made over the years to the Philippines and Montreal, Newfoundland became his home and where he enjoyed his retirement years. The family gratefully acknowledges the wonderful care and support provided by all the staff at Chancellor Park. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Wednesday from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service to be held at Cochrane Street United Church on Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Canadian Cancer Society.
