DON FREDERICK RING

RING, DON FREDERICK - Sadly our family mourns the loss of Don Frederick Ring formerly of 564 Tilton Avenue, and at the time of his death a resident of Kennebec Manor, in Saint John. Born on June 5, 1931 he was the son of the late Delbert Temple and Bessie Byron (Mason) Ring. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara Geraldine (Cox) Ring and his sister Muriel Edwina Armstrong. Don leaves surviving his son, Stephen Don Ring (wife, Pamela), of Saint John, NB; cousins, Ted Tilley and Marie McClure and many nieces and nephews. Don was Secretary-Treasurer and payroll clerk of Saint John News Company Limited, a magazine and book wholesalers and distributors for most of New Brunswick. During his life he enjoyed golf at the Westfield Golf and Country Club and sharing in the many artistic endeavors of his wife, Barbara who was probably best remembered for being the manager of Ring Gallery of Art from 1979 until her death in 1982. Don, in preserving the legacy of Ring Gallery of Art enabled it to continue under the management of Sheila Ross and Constance Kingston and other dedicated staff until June of 1997. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, "Fallsview Chapel", 309 Lancaster Ave., Saint John West (634-1701) visitation will take place on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, January 8, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will take place on Friday, January 9, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. from Hillcrest Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Ext. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations, in memory of Don, may be made to the Hillcrest Baptist Church, Saint John Ostomy Association, or a charity of the donor's choice.
