GORDON GEORGE ARMSTRONG

ARMSTRONG, GORDON GEORGE - At his residence, on January 14, 2009, Mr. Gordon George Armstrong, husband of Mrs. Shirley (Tian) Armstrong of Blacks Harbour NB. Born at Blacks Harbour on November 27, 1931, he was a son of Leota (Noddin) Armstrong and the late Robert Armstrong. A loving husband, father, son, grandfather and brother. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters; Carol Augustin of Brampton ON and Ruth Armstrong of Mississauga ON, his mother, Leota Armstrong of Blacks Harbour, two grandchildren; Aaron and Stephanie, one brother; Brendan (Leona) Armstrong of Blacks Harbour, two sisters; Leora (George) Murchison of Grand Bay NB and Mary Ellen Armstrong of Belleisle NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Robert. Gordon moved back to Blacks Harbour after an 18 year career as a Police Officer in Toronto ON. He joined the force on November 13, 1961 and served with the Emergency Task Force and later transferred to Intelligence and retired on March 31, 1978. He loved hunting, fishing and shot a deer in 2007 that he was very proud of. Resting at the St. George Funeral Home and Crematorium (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB from where the service will be held from The Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel on Tuesday at 2 pm with Rev. Keith Osborne officiating. Visiting at the funeral home on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. In Gordon's memory, donations to the NB Lung Association, or to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. (www.stgeorgefh.ca)
