TAYLOR, WILLIAM OSWALD - 58 of Chemainus, BC passed away in Cowichan District Hospital on Monday, January 12th, 2009 surrounded by his loving family after a short but courageous battle with cancer. A loving husband and father, Bill meant the world to his wife and children. Born in Sackville, NB, he was the son of the late William and Lillian (Fife) Taylor, Joggins, NS. Growing up in Joggins, he attended the local schools and later graduated from Rothesay Collegiate School, Rothesay, NB and St. Mary's University, Halifax, NS. During his highschool vacations, Bill often fished for lobster with the late Austin Brown in the upper reaches of the Bay of Fundy and raked Cumberland's finest blueberries. Spending endless summer days at the beach, he developed a keen interest in the Late Carboniferous plant fossils found in the Joggins Fossil Cliffs, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. Bill worked for Irving Oil in Saint John, NB and later moved to Fort McMurray, AB to work for Syncrude from which he retired in 2008. His friendship, caring and great sense of humour will be remembered by his family and many friends . Bill will be sadly missed but forever remembered by his wife, Jacqueline; his sons, Justin and Cade; his daughter, Tamara Bree. He is also survived by his sister, Lillian (John) Fowler; and his brother, Robert (Janet); mother-in-law, Edith Cade; brothers-in-law, John (Holly) Cade, Colonel Jamie (Beth) Cade; sisters-in-law, Pamela Cade, Linda (Harry) Cade Yaychuk; along with his nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his father-in-law, Lieutenant Colonel Jack Cade. Cremation has taken place. There will be no service by request.
