SHIRLEY LOUISE (NEE BURGESS) WEAVER

WEAVER, SHIRLEY LOUISE (NEE BURGESS) - Peacefully at the Carleton Kirk Nursing Home, on February 3rd, with her family by her side, following a period of failing health. Wife of the late Kenneth A. Weaver, Shirley was born in Saint John to the late Harold E. and Mable M. (Beaumont) Burgess. Shirley was a graduate of Saint John High School. Throughout her career she was employed as a secretary at the Canadian Red Cross, Boy Scouts of Canada, and St. Rose School; where she worked until her retirement. Shirley was a lifelong member of the United Church of Canada, attending Carleton Kirk United Church. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi for many years and enjoyed over 60 years with the "Club" girls; sharing lunch and outings every Friday afternoon. Shirley loved to travel. She especially enjoyed the many cruises she and her husband, Ken, took throughout their lives. She also enjoyed bus trips to New York, winters in Florida and shopping in New Hampshire. Shirley is survived by one son, Bruce, his wife Jane, grandchildren Christopher, Jeffrey and Matthew. (all of Saint John) and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased besides her husband and parents by brother, Harold A.E. Burgess. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, "Fallsview Chapel", 309 Lancaster Ave., Saint John West (634-1701) visitation will take place on Thursday, February 5, 2009 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday, February 6, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. from Castle Funeral Home, "Fallsview Chapel". Interment will be held at Cedar Hill Ext. in the spring. Following the service there will be a reception at the Fallsview Family Reception Centre. Donations, in Shirley's memory, may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Charity of the donor's choice. Online condolences may be made at www.castlefh.com.
