BURGESS, ROBERT CHARLES - husband of Barbara (Logan) Burgess, of East Saint John passed away peacefully on Monday February 9, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1932 in Saint John he was the son of the late George and Doris (Nickson) Burgess. Robert was a lifelong resident of Saint John. He worked for NBTel for 42 years, and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. He was active and a Board member of Canadian Mental Health Organizations, New Directions, Centracare and Past President of New Brunswick Schizophrenia Society. Besides his loving wife Barbara of 55 years, he is survived by his sons Ian Burgess (Lisa) of Saint John, Bruce Burgess of Saint John and David Burgess (Brenda) of Halifax; grandchildren Drew, Adam, Stephanie, Michelle and Robert; great grandson Tyson; brother Malcolm Burgess (Judy) of Saint John; sisters, Kathleen Callaghan of Saint John and Frances MacGregor (Don) of Cobourg, ON; many nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his parents he was predeceased by son Malcolm James Burgess, brother George Burgess and sister Elizabeth Dufourn. Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitations on Wednesday 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Friday February 13, 2009 at 11 a.m. Following cremation, interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery at a later date.
