IAN D. HAYWARD

HAYWARD, IAN D. - Ian Donnelly Hayward passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on February 13th, 2009, in the VG Site, QEII, after a 16 month battle with melanoma. Born on April 20th, 1971, Ian was a son of Darlene (Donnelly) and Ronald Hayward. He graduated from Saint John High School in 1989 and also graduated with a degree in Kinesiology from UNB Fredericton in 1994. He later realized his true calling was computers and all things technical and he went on to obtain several IT designations. Ian was currently employed as an IT Director with the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia. Ian was happiest spending his time with family and friends and cherished every moment with his children. He was often found at local arenas or soccer fields proudly watching Jackson and Allyson. Ian excelled at all sports. He played competitive baseball, hockey and volleyball and was a ringer at pool and darts. He loved spending an afternoon on the golf course and was a diehard NFL fan. Shortly before his death, Ian was able to attend Super Bowl XLIII, thanks to the generosity of many people in his community. His generous spirit and willingness to help his friends, family and neighbours will never be forgotten. Many of his friends and family will be lost without Ian's talents, especially his technical advice. Ian is survived by his loving wife, Helen (Sekulich) Hayward, daughter of John (Doris) Sekulich of Saint John; children, Jackson (8), and Allyson (6); parents, Ronald (Darlene) Hayward of Saint John; brother, Jeffrey (Jodi) Hayward of Quispamsis, NB; nieces, Jessica and Jillian; brother-in-law, Tony Sekulich of Fredericton; grandmother, Helena Donnelly from Saint John; grandmother, Jean Hayward from Saint John; special family member, Gabriel O'Connor from Beloeil, QE; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Visitation will take place in Donald K. Walker Funeral Directors Ltd., 307 Prince Albert Road, Dartmouth, today from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral service will be held in St. Thomas More Church, Dartmouth, on Tuesday, February 17th, at 11am. Donations can be made to any charity of the donor's choice or c/o Heather Kennedy in trust for Jackson and Allyson Hayward. Online condolences may be sent to donaldkwalker@accesswave.com
