WILSON, BERTHA MAUDE - The death of Bertha Maude Wilson of Saint John, NB occurred on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at her residence. Born in Saint John on January 20, 1921 she was a daughter of the late Christopher John and Ethel Maude (DeLong) Wilson. She was a member of Canadian Armed Forces CWAC from 1952 to 1962 Bertha had been involved for many years in the furniture business with her family then she, her brother Don and sister Edith owned and operated Wilson's Food Market in Forest Hills for a number of years. Bertha later worked for Anderson - McTague Insurance from were she retired. She was a member of Edith Avenue Baptist Church. She is the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been predeceased by four brothers, Walter, Roy, Donald and Aubrey and two sisters, Grace and Edith. Bertha is survived by sister in law Eunice Wilson. She will be greatly missed by her nieces, nephews and cousins. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, (506) 634-7424 from where the funeral will be held of Friday, February 27, 2009 with service at 1 pm. Interment in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery later in the Spring. Visiting hours Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.
