JENNIE E. SIMPSON

SIMPSON, JENNIE E. - The death of Mrs. Jennie Elizabeth (Thomas) Simpson of Saint John West, wife of the late Fred G. Simpson occurred at her residence on February 25th, 2009 after a lengthy illness. Born in Saint John on March 26th, 1931 she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Ella Thomas. Mrs. Simpson owned Your Candle Shop from 1971 - 1990 and then worked with her sons in the family businesses. Jennie was very active in many facets of the Church of the Good Shepherd, sang in the Church, and started the Rainbow programs for young people in West Saint John. Jennie is survived by two sons; Andrew (Wanda Cuthbert) Simpson, and Douglas (Sharon Ann Eldridge) Simpson, four brothers; James Thomas, Leonard Thomas, Paul Thomas, and Hubert Thomas, special grandchildren Brittany and Luke, several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband Fred, she was predeceased by brothers Vernon, Sammy, Robert, Harold and by sister Millie Hickey. She was also predeceased by half-brothers Earl, Charles, Lee, Howard, Ray, and half-sister Bessie Bullock. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Castle "Fallsview" Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John West (634-1701). By request, there will be no visiting at the funeral home. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, February 28th, 2009 at 1 pm from the Church of the Good Shepherd. Private family interment in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Immediately following the service, a time of fellowship will take place in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mrs. Simpson to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Church of the Good Shepherd Youth Program would be appreciated by her family.
