VIOLET B. HOVEY

HOVEY, VIOLET B. - The death of Violet B. Hovey of Hampton, wife of the late F. Malcolm Hovey occurred Friday, February 27th, 2009, at Clearview Seniors Home, Hampton. She was born in Saint John, daughter of the late James and Jennie (Brown) McKinney. She resided in Saint John and Brookville, graduating in 1929 from Saint John High School and in 1953 moved to Hampton. Violet was a secretary at J. Splane and Company Sporting Goods for thirteen years, retiring in 1977. She was a member of the Central Norton United Baptist Church, the Sharing and Caring Group and the Hampton Seniors Resource Centre. She is survived by three sons, James Hovey, Hampton, Philip Hovey (Sandra), Saint John, and William Hovey (Rosalynne), Hampton; seven grandchildren, Jeff, Jennifer, Jon, Mark, Todd, Susanne, and Greg; several great-grandchildren; as well as, several nieces and nephews. Violet was predeceased by daughter-in-law, Joyce Hovey; sister, Roberta Kiley; and brother, Aubrey McKinney. Resting at Reid's Funeral Home, (832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, with visitation 2-4 and 7-9pm on Saturday and Sunday. The funeral will be held on Monday, March 2nd, 2009, at 3pm, at Central Norton United Baptist Church with Reverand John Tremblett officiating. Interment will be in Central Norton United Baptist Cemetery, in the spring. Memorials to the Hampton Seniors Resource Centre, the Central Norton United Baptist Church or a charity of the donor's choice, would be appreciated.
