MARTIN JOSEPH GIONET

GIONET, MARTIN JOSEPH - Passed away, unexpectedly, at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday, April 04, 2009. Martin Joseph Gionet, of Saint John West. Husband of Mary Ann (Cormier) Gionet, for nearly 61 years. Born in Caraquet, NB, he was the son of the late Augustine and Theresa (Lantainge) Gionet. Before his retirement, he was employed with Irving Pulp and Paper, as a Stationary Engineer and as a shift supervisor. He was a veteran of the 2nd World War, with the Merchant Navy. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #2. Surviving in addition to his wife, Mary Ann are four sons, Henry (Margaret), of Saint John, John (Rhanda), of Calgary, Alb., David and Paul, both of Saint John; daughter, Joann Gionet, of Saint John; two sisters, Alexina Ramesay, of Saint John and Alice Hebert, of Quebec; nine grandchildren, Chantelle, Jean-Paul, Aimee, Stephen, Myra, Nicole, Robyn, David and Michelle. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by four brothers and two sisters. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, "Fallsview Chapel", 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John West (634-1701) visitation will take place on Monday, April 06, 2009 and Tuesday, April 07, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., with a Tribute to a Veteran Service on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 08, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. from Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church. Interment at a later date. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
