MCCANN, JOHN ALBERT - at Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, NB, April 13, 2009, John Albert McCann, husband of Dorothy E. (Murphy) McCann, of St. Stephen, NB. Son of the late Leo Thomas and Edna Grace (Burridge) McCann. John was an avid sports fan and his passion was for the New York Yankees, but bowling was his favorite pastime, along with reading and crossword puzzles. He was a lifelong member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch #9 and the St. Croix Bowling Club of Calais, Maine. He was very proud of his Scottish and Irish heritage, spending many hours researching his family tree. John's summers were spent up on the hill at Pleasant Lake enjoying his time and his grandkids and many friends. Survived by his wife; Dorothy, one daughter; Beth Hovey (Steve), St. Stephen, NB, one son: Tom McCann, British Columbia, three grandchildren; Angie, Sherry and Billy, two brothers; Tom (Jean) McCann, Cape Breton, Kevin (Brenda) McCann, Saint John, NB, aunts, uncles, nephews and cousins. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Union Street, St. Stephen, NB on Friday April 17, 2009 at 11 AM. Interment at Milltown Roman Catholic Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held at The S.O. Mehan and Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, NB on Thursday, April 16, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. St. Stephen Branch #9 Royal Canadian Legion will conduct a tribute service at the funeral home on Thursday evening at 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the charity of ones choice would be appreciated by the family.
