EILEEN MARIE DUFFLEY
DUFFLEY, EILEEN MARIE - The death of Eileen Marie Duffley (Connell) occurred at St. Joseph's Hospital on Wednesday, April 15th after a period of failing health. Born in Saint John on July 9, 1929, she was the daughter of George and Jean Connell (Alexander). Eileen began working for UNB Saint John in 1971 as a secretary shortly after the campus moved from uptown to Tucker Park. She retired from the campus in 1990 after having worked in the physics and engineering departments and in the Registrar's Office. Eileen was an avid bridge player and golfer, and was a member of the Riverside Country Club for many years. Eileen was predeceased by her husband Norm in 2006, and is survived by their six children, Art (Kathy) of Edmonton, Alberta; Phil (Susan) of Saint John; Suzanne Maker (Jim) of Sussex; Pam Dunnett (Dave) of Quispamsis; Geoff (Paula) of Grand-Bay Westfield; and Mary Duffley (Derrick Forret) of Quispamsis, along with sixteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. Eileen was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been predeceased by her brothers Raymond and Phil Connell, and sisters Jean Cooke and Noreen Bennett. Resting at Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John West (634-1701) with visitation on Thursday, April 16 from 7 to 9 pm, and Friday, April 17, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held from St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 12:00 pm. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Eileen may be made to UNB Saint John's Scholarship 2000 Fund or to the St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation or made to a charity of the donor's choice.
