ROCCA, JOAN BARBARA - July 27, 1944 - May 22, 2009 - In Burlington, Ontario on May 22, 2009 after her brave battle with ovarian cancer, Joan Barbara Rocca nee: Quinlan. Beloved wife of Pat for 45 years. Loving mother of son Patrick Rocca and his wife Elaine, daughter Cathy Anelli-Rocca and her husband Peter and daughter Tanya. Loved and missed by her Grandchildren Christian and Alexa. Predeceased by her parents George and Irene Quinlan, sisters Patsy, Marguarite and Moreen and brothers Andrew and George. Survived by sisters Doreen, Irene, Mary and Monica. Joan was born in Saint John, NB and lived for many years in Burlington, ON. She loved nature and was a truly incredible woman, the strongest and most determined soul, who held a great faith in God. She supported Pat in his many endeavors over the years and assisted in her daughter Cathy's business, The English Butler. She cherished her role as mother and grandmother so much. She was called to her God too soon and will be laid to rest so that she may be at peace with all the angels and her beloved St. Anthony and St. Francis. Visitation will be held at Smith's Funeral Home at 1167 Guelph Line, Burlington, from 3:00 to 9:00pm on Wednesday, May 27. A Mass of Roman Catholic Christian Burial will be held at St. Raphael's Church at 4072 New St, Burlington on Thursday, May 28 at 10:30am. Cemetery burial will be held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery on Old York Rd, Burlington. A reception to be held at St. Raphael's Church. Donations may be made in her memory to Ovarian Cancer Canada @ www.ovariancanada.org or The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada in Guelph, ON at www.thedonkeysanctuary.ca. "She was courageous til the end". She will be loved and missed by many but never forgotten. The best wife and mother God could have ever blessed us with. Until we meet again, we love you.
