JAMES RICHARD MCBRIDE

MCBRIDE, JAMES RICHARD - aged 70 of Bedford, passed away May 31st, 2009 at the QEII Health Sciences Center - VG Hospital in Halifax, NS. Born in Saint John, ew Brunswick, son of William and Theresa McBride. Jim grew up in Coldbrook, Saint John, New Brunswick with his parents and two older sisters. He graduated from Glen Falls School and Simonds Regional High School, Saint John, New Brunswick (1956). He was a Corporal in Squadron #427 of the Air Cadets. Jim always put his family and friends first, and treasured his Irish Heritage, and community. He will be dearly missed by all. He was a member of the New Brunswick Irish Cultural Society, and enjoyed researching his genealogy. He also enjoyed gardening, cooking, fishing and coaching Ringette (Bedford Ringette Association) and watching Hockey and Ringette. Jim was employed in the General Insurance Industry for 48 years retiring in 2004. He was a member of the Insurance Institute of Nova Scotia, was a Charter Insurance Professional (CIP), graduated from University of Toronto. He was a member of the New Brunswick Insurance Institute and the Nova Scotia Agents Association and a member of the Honorable Society of the Blue Goose. He is survived by his wife Ann (Joyce) McBride, three daughters Rosemary, Wendy and Kelly McBride, Bedford, Nova Scotia; one son, Patrick (Heidi) McBride and Grandson Ronan McBride, Hantsport, Nova Scotia; his two sisters, Mrs. Theresa (Joseph) Gallant, and Mrs. Anne (Bruce) Holder, Saint John, New Brunswick; two nieces, Karen Gallant and Paula Holder, Saint John, New Brunswick and one nephew James B. (Brittany) Holder, Chicago, Illinois. Four great nephews, Samuel, Jonah, Lucas Holder and Alexander Gallant and two great nieces, Georgia Holder and Kate Gallant. He was predeceased by his parents William and Theresa McBride and one nephew Terrance Gallant, Saint John, New Brunswick. Special thanks to Dr. Michele Molinari, the Multi Organ Transplant Team and Dr. Lianne Aires. Flowers can be directed to J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, NS or donations can be made to the Red Cross, the Gift of Life Program, Cancer Society or charity of your choice. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 in the J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 39 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, Nova Scotia. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Bedford Highway, Bedford, NS with Father Patrick Cosgrove officiating, after which will be a reception by the C.W.L. in the Church hall.
