NELSON, BERNARD M. - 1927 - 2009 - Bernard M. Nelson, 81, of Sussex passed away peacefully on June 3, 2009 at the Kiwanis Nursing Home having been surrounded by his loving family throughout the day. He was born in Lower Cape, Albert County on July 13, 1927, the son of the late George W. and Charlotte "Lottie" (Russell) Nelson. Bernard worked most of his life in the family business as a monument engraver. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, he also enjoyed camping. He was very proud of his family and especially enjoyed the time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, he just loved it when the kids were around. He will never be forgotten and will live on in the hearts of his family forever. "What we keep in memory is ours forever" He will be deeply missed by his children, Yolanda Kohnert (Walt) of California, Mike Nelson (Ruth) of Sussex, Carl Nelson (Dawn) of Moncton, Mark Nelson (Lisa) of Ontario, Shelly Toudjian (Takvor) of Moncton and Gail Lyons (Gary) of Salisbury; his treasured grandchildren, Steve, Angie, Andrew, Brent, Colleen, Stephanie, Lesley, Kyane and Meryl and by his precious great grandchildren; sisters, Marion Garvin of Riverview and Margaret Drury (Wilf) of Sussex; brother, Carl Nelson of Riverview; sisters-in-law, Ferne Nelson of Sussex, Irma Nelson of Windsor, NS, and Dorothy Nelson of Florida. He will also be missed by the mother of his children, Evelyn (Steeves) formerly of Edgett's Landing now residing in Riverview and by several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a grandson, Andrew; sisters, Eleanor Hendy (Foster), Catherine Preston (Jim); brothers, Russell, Maurice, James R., Harry (Joyce); sister-in-law, Kay Nelson and brother-in-law Ed Garvin. He will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home with visitation on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. The Funeral Service will be held at the Albert County Funeral Home on Sunday, June 7, 2009 at 2:00pm with Pastor Paul Steeves officiating. Interment will be in the Hopewell Cemetery, Hopewell Hill, N.B. For those who wish, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
