CARROLL, CLARE VIOLA "TOD" - The death of Clare Viola Carroll of Fredericton, NB, occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Sunday, June 21st, 2009. Born in Chatham, NB, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family and daughter of the late William and Susan (Creamer) Carroll. Clare was a registered nurse and veteran of World War II having served as a Lieutenant in the United States Army. Following the war, she worked many years in New York City as a private nurse to President J. Edgar Hoover and finally returning to Fredericton to practice nursing until her retirement. Clare is survived by a cousin Bert Creamer of Chatham, NB and many great-nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her parents; three brothers, Noonan, Roger and Benson and two sisters, Marie Keoughan and Ethel Carten. There will be no visitation by request. A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church on July 1st, 2009 at 1:00 PM with Fr. Monte Peters officiating.
