SANDS, JOSEPH PATRICK - It is with heartfelt sorrow that the family announces the passing of Joseph Patrick Sands of Bloomfield, NB, on June 22, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Bloomfield on August 19, 1927, he was the son of the late Edward and Rosella (Boyle) Sands. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish in Norton, NB. Joe was a self employed trucker for the majority of his life. In the early years he worked for Baxter Dairies, drove bus for City Transit and worked for Ora Saunders of Bloomfield. Joe enjoyed hunting. After retirement he enjoyed a little gardening. Mostly he enjoyed being outdoors and trailering with his family on the weekends. Joe was known to be there when anyone needed help with anything, whether it was his children, family members or others in need. He will be proudly remembered by his loving family for his unconditional love, support and understanding. Surviving are his loving wife of 58 years, Gertrude Ann (Hourihan) Sands; his children, Pat (Ken) Webb, Hampton, Frank (Cathy) Sands, Bloomfield, Dianne (Donnie) Cameron, Hampton, Karen (Stephen) Keirstead, Sussex and Philip (Rose) Sands, Bloomfield. He cherished all his grandchildren, Craig Webb (Jodi Stringer), Christen Webb (Paul Ferguson), Dana Sands (Shannon Schneider), Dean Johnston, Angela Sands (Jonathan Campbell), Aron Sands, Colin and Lauren Cameron, Katie Cameron (Jody Snider), Melissa Keirstead, Justin Keirstead, Jonathan Sands, Sara Sands, Kyle Sands and Courtney Sands. There was always a special twinkle in his eyes when he saw his great grandchildren, Olivia and Ava Campbell, Leah Cameron, Alivia and Iain Warr, and Jessica Anthony. Also survived by sisters Anne Veysey, Catherine McGinnis and brother Edwin Sands. Predeceased by sisters Edith and Eileen, brothers Maurice, Laurence and Gerald. Resting at his residence, 1346 Centennial Road, Bloomfield, with visiting Wednesday 2pm - 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, Norton on Thursday at 11:00am.
