FOSTER, HAZEL J. - Hazel J. Foster, formerly of Yale Ave. Riverview, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Wednesday, July 1st, 2009 at Drew Nursing Home in Sackville, at the age of 84 years. Born in Saint John, on March 19th, 1925; she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Georgie Merritt. Hazel was the Dining Room Manager at Keddy's Motor Inn and retired after 25 years service. She was a avid card player and played with the same Bridge Club for 30 + years. She was a former member of the IODE Chapters in both Moncton and Saint John. A loving and caring mother, nanny, sister and friend, who's motto was "Little Things Mean A Lot". Left with fond memories are her children Bill Foster (Jocelyne), Holly Davidson (Rob) all of Moncton, Sharon Blomsma of Riverview and Derek Foster (Heather) of Ontario; ten grandchildren, one great grand-daughter, her brother Eddy Merritt of Ontario; two sisters Helen Wood of Rothesay and Dorothy Thompson of Ontario; as well as nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she predeceased by her son-in-law Fred Blomsma Jr. and by a brother Daryl. At Hazel's request there is no viewing at the Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at Riverview Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, July 6th, 2009 at 10:30am. Graveside and committal will be held in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery, Saint John, NB; on Monday, July 6th, 2009 at 3:30pm with Pastor John Knight officiating. Donations in Hazel's memory made to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by her family.
