HENDERSON, MARK R. - Mark R. Henderson, husband of the late Bridgette (Betty McNamara) Henderson died at the Saint John Regional Hospital's Palliative Care Unit on July 2nd, 2009. He was born in Saint John on April 5th, 1924 to the late John and Agnes (Lynch) Henderson. Predeceased by his infant son, Mark Bruce; brothers Jack, Harold, Gordon and Arthur; nephew Gordon. He is the last surviving member of his immediate family. Mark Graduated from St. Vincent's Boys High School. He attended UNBSJ where he obtained a Certificate in Business Administration and graduated from Mt. St. Vincent's University with a diploma in Gerontology. He was employed, as a Welfare Officer, with Veterans Affairs Canada, having retired in 1992. Mark was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Council 8364 and the Monsignor F.M. Lockary Fourth Degree Assembly. He was also a member of the Jack Kidd Council 755, United Commercial Travelers and a member of the Irish Canadian Cultural Association. Mark was an avid card player, but especially enjoyed poker games with his brother Knights. He is survived by his only daughter Mary-Ellen Martin (Bert); niece Joan Joseph (Bud); in-laws Marie McNulty; Bernie and Rose McNamara and Paul and Norma McNamara; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Visitations will be held at the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd. (646-2424) on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm with prayers offered by the Knights of Columbus Council 8364 on Sunday at 7 pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, July 6th, 2009 at 11 am from St. Joachim's Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society, Romero House or charities of the donor's choice.
