RING, DOROTHY BELLE CHEYNE LOOMER - The death of Dorothy Ring of Saint John, NB occurred on Friday, July 3rd, 2009 at the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Nursing Home. Born at Public Landing, NB on November 6th, 1911 she was a daughter of the late Frank Whitfield and Retta Louise (Lane) Cheyne. Dorothy was a member and Past Grand Chief of the Pythian Sisters, and was also a member of the Nomads of Avrudaka. She is survived by her two sons, David (Gloria) Loomer of Grand Bay, NB and Frank (Jennifer) Loomer of Gondola Point, NB; four grandchildren, Linda Rose Loomer (Robert) Bishop, Kimberley Dawn Loomer (Andrew) Stults, Diana Barbara Loomer and Heather Anne Loomer (Mark); three great-grandchildren, Katherine (Katie) Bishop, Benjamin Bishop and Laura Stults; and several nieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by her first husband, Nathan Frank Loomer in 1947 and her second husband, Clarence Gordon Ring in 1986; one son, Paul Taylor Loomer in 1956; and one brother, Donald Cheyne. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A reception of the Celebration of her life will be held at the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Nursing Home, 130 University Avenue, Saint John, on Tuesday, July 7th, 2009 at 11:30 AM, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 PM. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery.
