GERALD GAUTHIER
GAUTHIER, GERALD - It is with great sadness that the family of Gerald Avery Gauthier of Saint John announce his death which occurred on July 10th, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in 1925 in Saint John to the late Alexander and Mary Anne (Avery) Gauthier. Gerald was a WWII Veteran serving in the Navy overseas. Gerald retired in1979 following a 30 plus year career as a checker, truck driver and Brake man with the Canadian National Railway. In his earlier years, Gerald, along with his siblings served as altar-boys at St. Peters Catholic Church. He was a life time member of the Main Brace and the RCL Jervis Bay #53. Gerald is survived by his wife of 55 years Faye (Humphrey) Gauthier; two daughters Linda Reed and Beverly Humphrey (Stephen) all of Saint John; four grandchildren, Tracey Langille (Dan), Craig Reed, Justin O'Toole (Erin) and Michael Reed; two precious great granddaughters Megan and Emily; one brother George; several nieces, nephews and many friends. Besides his parents, Gerald was predeceased by his siblings Dora Brown, Merlin Gauthier, Frank Gauthier, Gladys McCormack and one brother in infancy. Resting at the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Rd with visitations on Monday July 13th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, Legion Tribute to begin at 7pm. Mass Of Christian Burial will celebrated from St. Peters Catholic Church on Tuesday, July 14th, 2009 at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
