
RONALD FERGUSSON BROWN
BROWN, RONALD FERGUSSON - Captain Ronald Fergusson Brown of Saint John NB, passed away in the Turnbull Home on Saturday August 8th, 2009 at age 78. He was born in Saint John on December 21, 1930, the son of the late Reginald David Brown, Sr and Marie Adel (Ryan) Brown. He attended Glen Falls, Rothesay Regional and Saint John Vocational Schools. When he was 16, he went to sea on a Norwegian ship for a year, calling at ports on the Eastern seaboard and South America. On his return, he moved to Stratford Ontario where he spent a year working on his mother and stepfathers farm. Ronnie returned to Saint John in 1947 to work for the Brown Box Company. He worked at a local car dealership and then went to work as the Captain of the Millidgeville Ferry. Ronald then became employed by the RKYC hauling and launching boats. Ronnie began sailing at a very young age. He is best known on the Saint John River with the boat "Sally" and was a long time member of the RKYC. He is survived by his older brother, Reginald Brown Jr. of Belmont; two younger brothers, Douglas Brown (Patricia) of St. Andrews and James Brown (Trudy) of Belmont. In addition to his brothers, he is survived by his two Aunts, Marjorie (Ryan) Weatherby of Vancouver, BC, Jennie (Ryan) Hawkins, Sardis, BC, several cousins, four nieces and three nephews. Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd. Saint John (646-2424). There will be no visitation at his request. A graveside service will be held at Fernhill Cemetery on Thursday, August 13, 2009 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ronald's name can be made to the charity of one's choice.
