CHRISTIE, HILDA MARIE - Unexpectedly at her home, at Utopia NB on September 16th, 2009, Mrs. Hilda Marie (Hatt) Christie, wife of the late Arthur M. Christie. Born at Lake Utopia NB on May 21, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Wellington and Ethel (Anderson) Hatt. A loving mother, grandmother and sister, she is survived by one daughter, Linda (Mel) Mawhinney of Saint John, NB; one son, Ronald (Mary) Christie of Fredericton, NB; two granddaughters, Sonia (Jeff) Legere of Grand Bay- Westfield, NB, and Sarah (Clayton) McNally of Fredericton; two great grandchildren, Laura Legere and Benjamin McNally; two sisters, Alice (Alonzo) Hall of St. George, NB and Marjorie (Malcolm) Moses of Blacks Harbour, NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, Hilda was predeceased by one grandson, Benjamin Christie; three brothers, Arnold, Aubrey and Sherman; and by three sisters, Pearl McHugh, Edith Kelson and Laura Christie. Hilda was a career home person, who loved working in and around her home. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the OES Granite Chapter # 15, St. George, and the St. George Baptist Church. Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB with visiting on Thursday from 7 to 9 pm and on Friday from 10 am until Noon. The service will be held at the St. George Baptist Church on Friday at 2 pm with Rev. Dr. Perry Hanley and Rev. Darren Millett officiating, followed by interment at the St. George Rural Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, donations to the Charlotte County Cancer Society and the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
