It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and sister, Eileen Curtis age 90 a resident of the Northside Community Guest Home and formerly of Ingraham Street, on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, at the guest home.
Born in North Sydney, she was the daughter of the late William and Theresa (MacLellan) Gouthro. Eileen was employed for many years with the cleaning staff at the Clansman Motel .
She was a member of St. Joseph Church, North Sydney and the North Sydney Senior Citizens and Pensioners Club.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda (Donald) Stewart, Merigomish, N.S.; a son, Patrick Curtis, Moncton; a stepdaughter, Bernice (Simon) Fraser, North Sydney; two stepsons, Bernie (Joan) Curtis, Ball’s Creek, N.S., Bruce Curtis, Texas; a brother, Frank (Marion) Gouthro, North Sydney. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gordon L. Curtis; a son, Blaise; sister, Dorothy Lambert; two brothers, Aubrey Gouthro and Bert Gouthro in infancy; step-daughter, Shirley Cox.
Visitation for Eileen will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today (Friday) in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral mass 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church with Rev. Jim Attwood officiating. Burial to take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of ones choice.
