HICKS, ROLAND W. (1924 - 2009)- The death of Roland W. Hicks, 85, occurred at the Moncton City Hospital on Thursday, October 1, 2009. Born in Midgic, he was the son of the late James and Alta (Phinney) Hicks. Roland was an avid fan of horse racing and loved a good game of cards. He will be sadly missed by his daughter, Diane (Blair) Hubert of Moncton; grandchildren, Trudy, Shelley (Tim), and Greg all of Moncton; four great grandchildren, Ashley, Kendra, Erika, and Brycen; a sister, Norma Robertson of Amherst. Besides his wife, Dorothy, Roland was predeceased by a son, Eric in 1959; a brother Rufus and a sister Mary. As per Roland's request, the remains have been cremated under the care and supervision of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville (364-1300). There is to be no visitation or service. Donations in Roland's memory can be made to the Midgic Church, the Midgic Cemetery, or Palliative Care of the Moncton City Hospital.
