MAURITA ANN (SULLIVAN) CARVELL
CARVELL, MAURITA ANN (SULLIVAN)- The death of Maurita Carvell occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Thursday, October 1st, 2009. Born January 26th, 1935 in Newcastle, NB she was the daughter of the late James Bernard and Mary Loretta (Keenan) Sullivan and wife to W.J. (Bud) Carvell for 55 years. Maurita is survived by her husband, Bud; her children, Paula Carvell-Dennis (Tom), Donald, Robert (Trinda), Colleen Gilks (Phillip); grandchildren, Brooks, Keely and Allie Gilks and James, Laura and Martina Carvell; sister, Betty Maunder and brother, Ron Sullivan. Predeceased by her parents and sisters, Nonie MacEachern and Doris Griffith. She was a sorority life member of Beta Sigma Phi and an active member of the Beta Master Chapter. She was a longtime curling member of Capital Winter Club where she had served as president of the Ladies Section and actively enjoyed both curling and the CWC Bridge Club. Maurita retired from the Fredericton YMCA where as well as being a valued employee she was a past member of Century Club and Dusty Sneakers Senior Fitness Group. She joined CWL in 1964 and worked with several parishes in the Fredericton area. The family would like to thank the staff of the Emergency Room and Emergency Medical Services at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Visitation will be held at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home on Sunday, October 4th, 2009 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Catholic Church on Monday, October 5th, 2009 at 11:00 am with Fr. J.J. Dolan as celebrant. Interment will take place in the Hermitage Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation, the YMCA or the charity of the donor's choice.
