GAMST, JOHN HERBERT - The death of John Herbert Gamst, loving husband to Inger Gamst, occurred on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1932 in Svendborg, Denmark he was the son of the late Herbert and Rina (Rasmussen) Gamst. John was a sailor in his younger years; John and Inger immigrated to Canada in 1963. He worked as a Rigger for the Saint John Dry Dock for 35 years, retiring 1997. He enjoyed music and spending time with his family. In addition to his wife Inger of 46 years, he is survived by his daughters, Susan Gamst (Todd Veinotte) of Saint John and Sheila Piggott (Jim) of Quispamsis; step- daughter, Helle Vester (Soren) of Kenya, Africa; grandchildren, Andrew Cooper (Nadine) and Kristen Shipley (Andrew); great grandchildren, Aaliyah and Ryder Shipley; step grandchildren, Lennart Hansen and Nynne Hansen (Thomas); step great grandchildren, Jennifer and Jessica; several cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. By John's request, there will be no visitations or funeral service. The family would appreciate donations made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
