PAUL E.D. MACKIN

MACKIN, PAUL E.D. - The death of Paul E.D. Mackin, loving husband of Shirley (Gillis) Mackin, occurred on Monday October 12, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1931 in Saint John he was the son of the late Daniel and Mary Louella (Quinlan) Mackin. Paul was employed by Ocean Steel for 30 years and served as a harness racing Judge in Saint John, Moncton, Fredericton and Assinaboia Downs in Winnipeg and on the summer circuit in rural Manitoba, for more than 40 years. He made many lasting friendships in Manitoba including members of the Buchanan clan. Besides his loving wife Shirley of 51 years, he is survived by sons Andrew (Kyria) and Stephen; grandson Rob; brothers Gregory (Mary) and Bernard (Lillian); sisters Margaret Dalton and Lillian Stafford; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by brothers William, Joseph and Gerald. Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitations on Tuesday October 13 and Wednesday October 14 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Thursday October 15, 2009 at 12:05pm. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the ALS Society of New Brunswick, New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated. www.fundyfuneralhome.com
