HERBERT FRASER BOYD
BOYD, HERBERT FRASER - The death of Herbert Fraser Boyd of Saint John occurred on Friday October 16, 2009 at The Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1922 in Shannon, N.B. he was the son of the late George and Olive M. (Lawson) Boyd. His early years were spent in that area while Mr. Boyd was a hospital orderly at the T.B. Hospital and later at the Regional Hospital for many years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Salvage Corps and Fire Police for 28 years, receiving the Fire Department Exemplary Medal as well as the Governor General Citation for long time volunteer service. Herbert was a long time member of Waterloo St. Baptist Church, later the Cornerstone Baptist Church, serving on many of the Church Boards and was also chairman of the Board of Ushers for many years. He is survived by his wife Emma I. Boyd and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by three sisters Jessie Lawlor, Mary Mowatt and Joyce LeBell. Herbert was greatly interested in Animal Welfare and will be missed by Apache. Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd. Saint John (646-2424) with visitations on Saturday October 17th and Sunday October 18th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Monday October 19, 2009 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Harold Braun officiating. Interment will follow at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations made to Cornerstone Baptist Church or Animal Rescue League would be appreciated.
