MELVA IRENE (HOVEY) COLFORD

COLFORD, MELVA IRENE (HOVEY) - passed away at home, Maxwell Crossing, Charlotte County, NB, on October 25, 2009. She was born in Canoose on October 24, 1930 to Alex and Mildred (Caldwell) Hovey. Her life was defined by hard work, caring for others and of course her great home baking. She worked first at the Cotton Mill followed by thirty-three years at Ganong's Candy Factory. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Stephen. Melva was predeceased by her father; her husband, Hubert Colford; her long-term companion, Mike Garnett and her brothers, Murray and Leonard Hovey. She is survived by her son, Gary Colford (Darla Hartford); her daughter, Linda Arseneault (Cyril); three grandchildren, Amos Arseneault (Karrie Brisley) of St. Stephen, Jamie Arseneault (Samantha) of Grand Prairie, Alberta and Katie (Colford) Chute (Tim) of Campobello; two great grandchildren, Ayden Arseneault and Zachary Chute; her mother, Mildred Hovey; sisters, Marjorie Graham of Mount Forest, Ontario and Carol Cunningham (Jack) of Fredericton, NB; many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at 11 am from The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, NB. Interment at Milltown Roman Catholic Cemetery. For those who wish, donations to the Charlotte County Cancer Society, the Charlotte County SPCA or charity of ones choice would be appreciated.
