
AUDREY DAWSON
DAWSON, AUDREY - Audrey Elizabeth Dawson of Wards Creek passed away after a period of failing heath on November 1, 2009 at the age of 81. Born in Saint John on September 25, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Amos and Lillian (Montgomery) Lavigne. Audrey loved children; she operated a special care home for over 45 years and fostered many handicapped children who enjoyed many summers at the Mohawk Campground. Audrey was as advocate for the rights of special needs children and adults. She believed they should be cared for by understanding and compassionate people. Audrey was predeceased by an infant son, Joseph; her brothers, Fred, Clifford and Victor; and his wife, Edna; her brother-in-law, Gordon Chatput, as well as many of her beloved foster children; Audrey is survived by her son, Brian Lamb (Linda) of Hampton; three daughters: Susan Vail (Ed) of Lorneville, Dawn Savoy (Eddie) of Miramichi, and Elizabeth Dawson of Mill Cove Nursing Home; her adopted daughters: Sandra Payne, Joanne Saunders (Ross); her chosen son, Arthur Long (Sue); best friend, Lucy McGlinchey (Allan); thirteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren; her sister, Mabel Chaput of Deep River, Ontario; several nieces and nephews, extended family members and her rescued canine companion, Teddy. Her prayers were answered on September 24th when she received a visit from Elizabeth. Thank You to the Mill Cove Nursing Home and their caring staff. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), where visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church 114 Church Ave Sussex on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at 2:00 pm.
