BETTLE, H.J. SHIRLEY - The death of Shirley Bettle of Hampton, widow of Ralph Bettle, occurred November 28, 2009 at her residence. She was born in Springfield, NB on June 1, 1926, daughter of the late James and Jessie (Vail) Urquhart. Shirley lived most of her life in Hampton where she was employed with Canada Post for thirty eight years retiring in 1985 as Postmaster. She was a Charter Member of Lord Beaverbrook Chapter #33 Order of the Eastern Star. Shirley was a member of Heritage Club, Brunswick Square, Hampton United Church and Hampton Seniors Resource Centre. She is survived by one foster son, Andrew P. Adams; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Shirley was predeceased by four brothers, Bruce, Harry, Walter and Fred Urquhart and four sisters, Grace Beatty, Ella Proctor, Gertrude Piers and Evelyn MacDonald. Resting at Reid's Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton with visitation Monday from 4 to 8 pm. An Order of the Eastern Star service will be held Monday, 7 pm at the funeral home. The funeral will be held Tuesday, 1:00 pm, at Hampton United Church with Rev. Keith Lyons officiating. Interment in Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
