SHOREY, ROLAND M. - Roland Merritt Shorey age 82 died unexpectedly at the Grand Falls General Hospital on Monday November 30, 2009 following an ongoing battle with heart disease and diabetes. He was born July 31, 1927 in Grand Falls to parents Frank and Julia (West) Shorey. He lived in and around the Grand Falls area all his life where he farmed for over 50 years and drove school bus for nearly 30 years. He was a longstanding member and warden of the All Saints Anglican Church. Roland was loved and respected by his family and community members and known as an honest, reliable, kind, and hard working man. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his wife Cecile (Albert) Shorey, her daughters Carol (Roland), Debbie (Renaud) and Tina (Jason); step-grandchildren Francis and Evelyn and beloved pet Daisy. He is also survived by his children Cleo Cyr (Art), John (Rachel), Allen (Carol), Laura, and James (Shelley) and their mother Ruth (Currie); grandchildren Paula, Julie, Jessica (Rob), Shawna (Jared), Michael Roland, Lisa (Bobby), Shawn, Amy, Julia, and Amanda; great-grandchildren Isaac, Rachel, Camelia, Alexandre, and Lily; nephews Winston, Randy, Frank and Grant and niece Carol. Roland is also survived by daughter Linda MacDougall (Dean) and grandchildren Kim, Kathy, Karen and Kelly and great-grandchildren Luke, Logan, Kendra, Kristen, Matthew, Amber, Chelsey, Veronica, Abby and Liam. He is predeceased by his parents and sisters Annie Petrico and Aggie Conyers and nephew John-Guy Conyers. Visitation will be at the O'Regan Funeral Home on Everard Daigle Blvd, Grand Falls, NB Thursday, December 3, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9, and Friday, December 4, 2009 from 9 to 10:30. A funeral service will follow at 11am at 'All Saints Anglican Church on Front Street in Grand Falls with a reception to follow at the Golden Age Club.
