Helen Winnifred Rae, 95, formerly of West Branch, Pictou County, passed away February 13, 2009, in the Shiretown Nursing Home, Pictou.
Born at Copper Lake, Antigonish County, May 11, 1913, she was the youngest child of the late Daniel and Maria (Sinclair) Henderson.
Helen graduated from Provincial Normal College, Truro in 1933, and taught school for many years. She was active in her community and church, and was a life member of the UCW.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol (Sam) VanderKloet; and son, Eldon (Norma) Rae; grandchildren: Peter and Julia VanderKloet, and Angela and Adam Rae; also one niece and two nephews.
Helen was predeceased by her husband, Jim in September, 2008; also by sisters: Katie, Jean, Beth, Jessie, Donelda, Anne; brothers, James and Ebenezer.
Visitation will be held 1-2 p.m. Sunday in McLaren Funeral Home Chapel, Pictou, with funeral to follow at 2 p.m., Rev. Dr. Ken MacLeod officiating. A reception will follow. Spring burial will be in West Branch Cemetery.
