RAY A. CARSON
CARSON, RAY A. - Ray A. Carson, 68, of Shediac, NB, with his loving family at his side, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 following a brief illness. Born in Moncton, he was the son of Annie L. (Beers) Carson of Moncton and the late Harold E. Carson. Ray was retired President of HE Carson & Sons Ltd. He was a lifetime member of the New Brunswick Road Builders Association, a member of the NB Progressive Conservative Party, Past Exalted Ruler of Moncton Elks Lodge #229. Ray was an avid golfer and boating enthusiast and organized and built the First Regional Marina in Pointe du Chene. He was a NASCAR fan and in past years was a well known stock car driver, former member of the Moncton Junior Jaycees and attended the Moncton Wesleyan Church. Ray will be sadly missed by his wife, Gertrude (Trudy) (Langan) Carson; children, Tami Crawford (Mark), Calgary, AB, Kevin (Betsy), Moncton, Kim, Riverview; stepchildren, Beverly Gillies (Stuart) and Gregory Strayhorn (Arlene Upshaw), both of Moncton; grandchildren, Logan, Duncan and Shannon of Calgary and Jordan, Amanda, Ryan, Christopher and Cooper all of Moncton; brothers, Wayne, Boyd (Joanne), Gerald (Sandra), Merle (Donna), Norman (Fran) and sister, Marilyn Mowat (John), all of Moncton; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by an infant sister, Norma Elaine. Visitation at the Moncton Wesleyan Church, 945 St. George Blvd., Moncton, Monday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Service, Moncton Wesleyan Church Celebration Centre, Tuesday, December 15, 2009, 2:30 pm, Pastor L. D. Buckingham and Dr. Harry Wilson officiating. Reception following the service. Interment, Elmwood Cemetery. In Ray's memory, donations to Friends of the Moncton Hospital, The Moncton Wesleyan Church Building Fund or a memorial of choice would be appreciated.
