LUNERGAN, KATHLEEN F. - It is with deep regret that the family announces the passing of Kathleen Freda Lunergan (nee Turner). She died peacefully on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a brief illness. Born on June 25, 1923 in Gravesend, Kent, England she was the daughter of the late Ethel and Alfred Turner. She is survived by her sister Margaret Warner, Gravesend. She also leaves behind her Canadian nieces Marion Dryden, Janet and Anita Shrieves; British nieces and nephews Ian Turner, Ann Perkins, Mary Thomas, James Merchant; her nephew in Sweden Peter Warner; and nephew in Australia David Warner, along with their families. She will be missed as well as by step children Sandra Friars, Cheryl Carter, Douglas Lunergan; granddaughters Natalie Green and Margo Duff; great-grandchildren Ben and Nick Green, Sam and Jacob Duff. Kathleen was predeceased by her husband of almost 40 years William; sisters Phyllis Shrieves, Gladys Merchant, Ivy Turner, Doris Perrin; and brother Alfred Turner. Earlier in her lifetime, she spent many years in the field of education in both England and Canada. In Canada she taught at the East Saint John and Lorne Schools, and supplied at various others in the Saint John area. Music played a very important part in Kathleen's life, a love she shared with her husband William. She was a member and served as organist and choir director at several churches including the Church of St. John the Baptist and St. Clement Mission Church, (Millidgeville), St. Paul's Anglican Church, (Rothesay), Main Street Baptist Church, St. George's Anglican, West Saint John and Charlotte Street Baptist Church West Saint John. She was proud and pleased to receive an award from the College of Organists for her many years of dedicated service. Prior to her passing she had been a resident at the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Nursing Home. The family would like to thank the staff at the Nursing Home for the love and care provided to Kathleen during her years spent there. We would also like to thank all the friends and acquaintances who made the effort to visit Kathleen both in the Nursing Home and at the hospital. Your kindnesses are greatly appreciated. A Funeral Service in celebration of Kathleen's life is planned for early January. Arrangements have been entrusted to Castle "Fallsview" Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave., Saint John West, (634-1701).
