GATES, OCTAVIUS - Octavius "Tave" William Gates widower of the late Audrey (Hamilton) Gates, passed away at Orchard View Nursing Home in Gagetown on Wednesday December 23rd, 2009. Born 1923 in Saint John, he was the son of the late Charles and Lucinda (Ewing) Gates. Tave was a truck driver and clerk for EMCO for many years. In earlier years he and his wife Audrey were devoted and active members of St. Giles United Church. Tave is survived by his sister Connie Currie of Thunder Bay, ON; brother-in-law Douglas Hamilton (Marge); sisters-in-law Irene Hamilton and Doris Cudmore all of Saint John; special nephews Ian Hamilton of Saint John, Glen Hamilton (Clare) of Brooklyn, NY and Ross Hamilton (Gillian) of Toronto, ON; grandnephews Spencer and Max Hamilton of Brooklyn, NY. Besides his parents and his devoted wife of 61 years Audrey; Tave was predeceased by brothers Lincoln, Len and Ralph. (sister) ? At Tave's request, private family services will be held.
