GREEN, LINCOLN HERBERT - Of Saint John, New Brunswick, husband of the late Shirley Juanita (Barr) Green passed away peacefully at his residence, with family by his side after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's and Lewy Body Disease on December 24, 2009. Born in Saint John, he was the son of the late Blance Lillian Skinner and Thomas Harold Green. Lincoln was known by his nickname "Happ" and had a great sense of humour. He loved music and dance, played the harmonica and accordion. In his earlier years, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping with his wife and children. In 1941 through to 1959 - he began his career at Bay Shore working with CP Rail as a Call Boy Messenger - Motive Power. In Operations, he worked as a Heaterman, Record Tracing Clerk. Following this, he worked as a Relief Stationary Fireman, Crane Operator, Porter, Trucker, Trainman, Bridge and Building Gang and Labourer - all through Operations from Bay Shore in West Saint John, Bruce and Toronto Division, Brownsville Division and North Shore. From 1959 through to 1965, he worked with NB Electric Power Commission as a Linesman. He then went on to Canada Packers and finally retired as a Stationary Engineer with Moosehead Breweries. He was a Gunner with the Navy during WWII. Following the war, he worked for the U.S. Government sailing from Montreal to Europe delivering food supplies to some of the war-torn starving countries. He loved to build things around the house and was a "Jack of all Trades". He was a Mason in his younger years, and in later years was very active in the Luxor Shriners. Lincoln was a member of Branch 69 RCL, participating in many special occasions/ceremonies and was awarded many citations for the largest amount of poppies sold every year. He is survived by three sons: Richard (Vicki) of Vancouver Island, Randy (Geraldine) of Hampton and Robert (Carole) Murray of Shediac Cape, and one daughter: Shirley Green (David Guthrie) of Saint John. As well as 1 brother: Frederic of Saint John and four sisters: Eva (Don) Marshall, Bertha (Durelle) Jones and Mona (Damie) Dow of Saint John; and Betty (Bruce) Shonoman of Ontario. Eight Grand- children: David, Randi, Michelle, Colin, Richelle, Keith, Tim and Patricia. Eight Great Grandchildren: Haley, Tyler, Ethan, Eric, Taylor, Caleb Lincoln, Grace and Leif. He was predeceased by his wife Shirley Juanita (Barr) Green as well as his first wife: Patricia Chatterton; a son - David Lorne Green; Grandchildren - Jason, Colleen, Anna and Michael; Brothers - Richard, Harold, Hartley and Merlin (Tommy); Sisters - Edith, Doris and Elva. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, "Fallsview Chapel", 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John West (634-1701) with visiting for family on Monday, December 28, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and public visiting on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A legion service will be held on Tuesday at 7:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at Castle Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Ext. Field of Honour. A reception to follow the interment at the Fallsview Family Reception Center. Donations to Cystic Fibrosis, Parkinson's Society, Cancer Society and further research for Lewy Body Disease (Dementia) would be appreciated by the family.
