TRACEY, HELEN KATHERINE (DAVIDSON) - (1924-2009) - It is with profound sadness that the family of Helen Tracey announces the death of their beloved mother, grandmother and sister on 25 December 2009. Born on 10 October 1924 in Five Fingers (St. Quentin), New Brunswick, she was the daughter of Mary Geraldine Laviolette and William Roy Davidson. She attended St. Thomas Academy in Chatham, New Brunswick, before graduating from St. Francis Xavier University in 1948. After teaching in a one-room school she moved to Saint John where she worked as a chemistry lab technologist at the Provincial Laboratories. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Paul Myrlen Tracey. She is survived by her loving daughters, Lisa Tracey (Lynnette) and Barbara Tracey-Larocque (Peter), her cherished grandchildren, Jessica (Andrew), Livia (Bryan) and Saird; her dearly-loved sister, Barbara Wheeler (Richard); and her sisters-in-law, Jacqueline Davidson and Sally Davidson, brother-in-law, Philip Sharkey, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her siblings, J. Colin Davidson, John Quentin Davidson, William W. Davidson and Elizabeth Sharkey. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Palliative Care Unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital whom she called her "angels", Terry Charlton who provided much help and support as well as her neighbourhood friends. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Castle Funeral Home in Saint John. There will be no visitation with a private Mass to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Romero House, Hospice Greater Saint John or the New Brunswick Museum.
