JENET ELIZABETH OTTEM

OTTEM, JENET ELIZABETH - The passing of Jenet Elizabeth (MacIlroy) Ottem of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late John Ottem, occurred on Sunday, January 3, 2010 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on December 29, 1913 in Benton, NB, she was a daughter of the late Vincent and Margaret (Bickford) MacIlroy of Bloomfield, NB. Jenet was a past, Matron of the Gladstone Chapter #12, a founding member of the Johnston Ave. Senior Centre and The Men's Workshop. Past President of the Fredericton Seniors' Centre Advisory Council and the 55 Plus Group. She was formerly on the nursing staff at York Manor Nursing Home for over 11 years and was affiliated with St. Mary's Anglican Church, Fredericton, NB. An avid quilter, she assisted in the quilting groups of St. Anne's Parish Church, St. Mary's Anglican Church and at the Johnston Ave. Senior Centre weekly for many years. Jenet is survived by her daughter, Doreen Lewis of Fredericton, NB; four grandchildren, Mark Lewis, Ciaron Lewis, Gwynn Boye and Krista Blaikie; four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; son in law Buzz Payne, the Knappe Family of Tracy, NB. In addition to her husband and parents, Jenet was predeceased by her daughter, Margot Payne; sisters, Aldyth Sinclair, Phyllis Reese and Alva MacIlroy; brother, Wallace MacIlroy. There will be no visitation by request of the family. A Memorial Service will take place at York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 2:00 pm with Father Ian Wetmore officiating and Father Tom Smith assisting. Interment will take place at Sunny Bank Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to any charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
