MILLER, BERNICE - (May 30, 1927 - January 15, 2010) - Bernice Miller of Riley Brook, NB passed away at the Tobique Valley Manor, January 15, 2010 at the age of 82. She was born in Grand Falls to the late Holger & Signe Neilsen and raised by the late Marius & Hilma Christensen of New Denmark. She is survived by her husband of 60 years Robert (Bob) Miller, daughter Shirley Mahaney (Rick); sons Jack (Debbie), Fred (Lynne & daughters Laurel & Jacque and four grandsons Dustin, Drew, Aaron and Kyle); grandsons Chris, Robbie and Toby; great grandchildren Sierra, Ben and Brandon; sister Dorothy Burgess (Dick) of Michigan, USA; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by daughter Mavis; son Richard; brothers Arnold, Harold and George; sisters Violette Higgins and Margaret Daw. Bernice went to school in New Denmark/Grand Falls and later to Fredericton Normal School. She began her career in teaching at the Nictau and later Riley Brook Schools then opening the store at Nictau and later Riley Brook. She will be best remembered by the Riley Brook Community for her service at the Riley Brook General Store for 40 years. She had many interest including quilting, stamp collecting, and outdoors. She loved her cat Tigger. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at the Riley Brook Community Hall at 2 pm on Tuesday, January 19, 2009 with Pastor David Knudson officiating.
