TIPPETT, HELEN ISABELLE - 1912 - 2010 - Helen I. Tippett, 97, of Riverview and formerly of Moncton, passed away unexpectedly at the Moncton Hospital on Sunday, February 7, 2010. She was the daughter of Elbridge and Jane (Pugh) Gilmore of Keswick Ridge. Helen was born in Brownville Junction, Maine and moved to Keswick Ridge as a child. After graduating from U.N.B. in 1933, she chose education as a career which took her to assignments in Temple, Minto, Aulac, Salisbury and eventually Moncton, where she met her future husband, fellow educator, J. Raymond Tippett and raised her family. Her interest in education never wavered - a career followed by her daughters and granddaughters. Helen was a long-time volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society, a member of the Retired Teachers' Association and an attendee at the Harrison Trimble High School Retirees' luncheons. Knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching and playing bridge were the pastimes she most enjoyed throughout her life. While entertaining friends and family at home, at the annual Gilmore picnic, or at her summer cottage at Long Reach, she loved to discuss current events, politics and family accomplishments. As a twist of fate, she was visited in 2006 by Prime Minister Stephen Harper to enquire about his late grandfather - her first principal in Moncton. Inquisitive, proud and resourceful, Helen eventually became the beacon of information on family and local history and a source of pride to her extended Gilmore and Tippett families. Helen will be sadly missed by her step-daughter, Jo-Ann Fox-Threlkeld (Stephen) of Hamilton, ON, her daughter Kathrine McCullogh (Phil Cann) of Rothesay and her son Joe Tippett (Pat) of Moncton; her eleven grandchildren, Alison Fox-Robichaud (Rob), Nancy Fox (Andrew Fischer), John Fox, Jennifer Peacock (David), Geoffrey McCullogh (Rebecca), Andrew McCullogh (Vanessa), Jane Bridgeo (Stephen), Colin Tippett (Carrie Watson), Jill Tippett Hebert (Jason), Kevin Tippett (Laura Bishop), Emily Tippett (Kirby Ramsay), as well as twenty great-grandchildren; sister, Roberta Embleton, Fredericton and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, J. Raymond Tippett (1991); sisters, Alice, Gertrude, Mary, Phyllis and Margaret; brothers, Owen and William.
