Ronald Wayne "Sonny" MacKenzie age 62 of Amherst passed away on Friday,
February 13, 2009 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper
Nappan with his loving family by his side.
Born in Amherst he was a son of the late Danny and Eileen (Benjamin)
MacKenzie.
In his younger years Sonny played hockey as part of the "hotline" with
Jimmy
and Charlie as well as a trip away to an NHL game. Sonny worked for
Bendix
Homes for many years and later was employed by Bordertown Pontiac until
his
illness. He enjoyed spending time at his cottage at Jackson's Point with
his
family and friends. Sonny will always be remembered for his kindness and
out
going personality.
He will be deeply missed by his wife the former, Thelma Stewart; his
children, Wayne (Cheryl) of Amherst, April MacKenzie (Veinotte) of
Amherst,
Allan (Denise) of Springhill and Jamie (Thearon) MacKenzie of Fenwick;
siblings, Bob (Joan), Gary (Sarah), Jimmy (Christine), Billy, Doris
(Lawrence) Shannon, Linda (Tommy) Landry and Ruth Ann (Brian) Deegan,
all of
Cumberland Co. as well as, Shirley (Art) Tower of Edmonton AB and
Marlene
(David) O'Blenis of Salisbury, NB; grandchildren, Jennifer, Ryan, Evan,
Nicholas, Matthew, Caitlin and Austin; one great grandson, Keegan; many
nieces, nephews and friends.
Sonny was predeceased by his sister, Faye and brother, Ernest.
Resting at Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906)
with
visiting was held on Sunday, from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held
on
Monday, February 16, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. from First Baptist Church,
Amherst
with Rev. Jonathan Cole officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Sonny's memory may be made to the IWK
or
Children's Wish Foundation.
