The death occurred at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Wednesday, February 18, 2009, of Elmer Matheson, of Highland Avenue, Summerside, aged 89 years. Born in Clyde River, he was the son of the late John and Ada (Hickox) Matheson. Survived by his wife, Gladys Walsh; children Beverly (Oland) Schofield, Stratford; Shawn (Amanda), Charlottetown; Kellie Doucette, Stratford; Kim (Gary) Keddy, Fredericton, N.B.; Terry (Chantal) Sabourin, Fredericton, N.B.; Wayne (Valerie), Sudbury, Ont.; Sean David, Kelowna, B.C.; Dillon, Sudbury, Ont.; Bryn, Victoria, B.C.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sister Belle Berrgian, Bethel; brother Eric (May), Halifax; sisters-in-law Jenny, Mary and Blanche Matheson, all of Charlottetown; brother-in-law Herb Stanley, Charlottetown; special niece Sandra Matheson, Summerside; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his son David; sister Eleanor Stanley; brothers Homer, Jack, Major, Millar, Benny and Roddie.
