Linda Marie Piercey, 48, of MacKesey Drive, Victoria Mines, passed away Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009, in Lamont, Alta.
Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late Alan Francis ‘Mose’ and Theresa ‘Bea’ (Burke) Reid.
Linda was a member of St. Alphonsus Church, Victoria Mines.
She worked at Shell Scotsford in Alberta and was a member of the Labourers’ Local 92.
Linda was an accomplished musician who played guitar and sang with the band Fancy Free for several years. She was very family oriented and loved spending time with children. Linda volunteered with several community groups, namely the children’s aid society and Each One, Teach One.
Surviving are son, Daniel J. Piercey, Victoria Mines; brothers, Francis (Clara), Murray (Jay), both of New Waterford, Michael, Russell, both of Alberta; sister, Theresa, Calgary; many nieces, nephews and special friends.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, at Park Memorial Chapel in Lamont, Alta. A funeral mass of celebration will take place Monday, Feb. 23 at 11 a.m. in the Parish of St. Leonard, St. Michael Church, River Ryan, with Fr. Doug MacDonald officiating. A luncheon will follow at St. Agnes hall, Convent Street, New Waterford. Interment will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery at a later date.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada-Nova Scotia Chapter.
