Marie Keiver 1924 - 2003 STONEY CREEK, NB - Marie Elizabeth Keiver of Highway 114 Stoney Creek passed away peacefully at the Moncton Hospital on Saturday, February 15, 2003 in her 78th year. Born in Moncton she was the only daughter of the late Francis Patrick and Elizabeth Ann (Carey) Murphy. Marie was the beloved wife and best friend of Frank (Francis) for 53 years and the loving mother of Anne Marie and Michael Frederick both of Ottawa. Sister of Dr. A. Patrick of Riverview and Judge Henry J. Murphy (Joan) of Moncton. Marie is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. She was educated in Moncton schools and graduated from St. Thomas College in 1946 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She entered the law firm of Murphy, Murphy and Mollins which had been founded by her father. In addition to her duties as legal secretary, she furthered studies in law. Most of her married life was as a devoted housewife and mother. In her senior years, Marie again returned to academic studies attending the University of New Brunswick and Mount Allison University specializing in literature and history. In 1998, she was awarded her Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in history from Mount Allison University. Marie was a charter member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and a past president of the Riverview Catholic Women's League. She was a former secretary of the Albert County Historical Society and former executive member of The N.B. Ladies Progressive Conservative Association. In her younger years, she was a member of the Beaver Curling Club, the Lakeside Golf Club, the Moncton Jaycettes. More recently, Marie had been and active member of the Moncton Chapter of the United Military Services Institute in which she enjoyed the comradeship. She was predeceased by a son, Donald in 1954; and three brothers, J. Edward Murphy Q.C. (Jane), Dr. Fred Murphy (Joyce) and Francis Charles in infancy. Visiting hours will be held from Cadman's Funeral Home, 114 Alma Street, Moncton on Wednesday, February 19 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Parish prayers will be held from the Funeral Home on Wednesday at 8 pm. The Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Botsford Street on Thursday, February 20, 2003 at 9:30 am. (Elevator access at side door). Following the service a reception will be held in the parish hall. The interment will take place at the old Shediac Road Cemetery at a later date. Family flowers only.
