Aletha Eleanor (Sprague) Allen PORT ELGIN, NB - The death of Aletha Eleanor (Sprague) Allen occurred at the Westford Nursing Home on Friday, March 7, 2003. Born July 16, 1905, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Grace (Bugley) Sprague. She was a tailor by trade, a stay at home Mum and in later years, with her husband, Copp, operated a grocery store in Port Elgin. She was a former member of the Rebecca Lodge, East Westmorland Senior Citizens, and an adherent of Trinity United Church, Port Elgin. She is survived by four sons, Gordon (Corinne) of Moncton, NB, Cecil (Mina) of Truro, N.S., Albert (Bud) of Coburg,NB and William (Sharon) of Etobicoke,Ont; two daughters, Betty Stright of Murray Corner and Peggy Goodwin of Port Elgin; one brother, Pete (Louise) of Ontario; 29 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren. Aletha was predeceased by her husband, Copp in 1985; by a daughter, Marjorie Goodwin; brothers, Bob, Leslie, Dick, Lloyd, Ira, Jim and Vernon; sisters, Vona Osborne, Dora Sprague, Olive McGlashing and Hilda Goodwin, and three grandchildren, Boyd, Blair and Bonnie Allen. Cremation has taken place and visiting hours will be held at Jones Funeral Home, 3 West Main Street, Port Elgin (364-1300) on Monday, March 10, 2003 from 7-9 PM. A Memorial service will be held at Jones Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 11, 2003 at 2:00 PM., Rev. Jay Ettinger officiating.
